Three reasons why I decided to take a break from Twitter

I went from 190 followers to 1300 in a single month.

I joined Twitter in June 2021 and had about 190 followers till Dec 31, 2021. Over the next 31 days, I began posting Atomic essays and the number of followers increased to 1300. But this is not a post about how to grow on Twitter.

It is about my challenges of being on Twitter while preparing for the UPSC exam

#1: My focus reduced due to constant Engagement

Tony Robbins, an author and business strategist, explains the importance of focus. I realise that this is applicable in the UPSC exam and in life.

Twitter does have a lot of useful content, but can also be a great source of distraction. This applies to any other social media app. As long as we can be in control of ourselves, it will be helpful.

#2: I decided to challenge myself

I reached a point where I would start the day and end the day by checking the likes and follower growth on Twitter. I know it sounds crazy. Besides, I was lagging behind on my targets for Jan 2022.

I remembered the words of Anu Kumari Mam,

"Every person has to go through one of the two pains. Either the pain of discipline or the pain of regret. But the difference is discipline weighs ounces, while regret weighs tons"

It was a difficult choice. But, if I ask myself, "What is my Priority?" the answer is clear.

#3: Prelims is coming!

Today, UPSC has released the notification for the Civil Service Exam. We have 122 more days for the exam. Given the intense competition, every day that I waste, I am reducing my chances of cracking this exam. I am trying to remind myself that,

It is not a lack of time, it is lack of focus that can stop a person from achieving their goal.

I am curious to know what steps you take to remain focused in your preparation. I would love to hear from you. Do drop a reply to share your perspectives

Wishing you all the best! ๐Ÿš€
