5 reasons why you should make notes of Current Affairs topics
To make notes or not to make notes for Current Affairs? An Evergreen Dilemma. What do you do?
5 reasons why you should make notes of Current Affairs topics
It is quite possible that a couple of you might differ from my opinion on this topic. Do read the following reasons and share your perspective.
By Current affairs, I refer to the important events that occur 1-2 years before the exam.
#1 Current affairs play a significant role in every stage of the exam
Prelims Stage - Direct questions from current events and Static questions inspired by current events are asked.
Mains Stage - About 80% of the questions in this stage are inspired by current events.
Interview Stage - Your perspective and depth of understanding of the issues that happen around you are tested.
#2: Making notes for current affairs is equivalent to making notes for Mains stage topics
Many people consider current affairs to be a separate silo. But over time, I have realized that current affairs' is an integral part of the General Studies topics. It is the real-life application of the static concepts we study.

#3: Your own notes helps you to revise quickly before exams
Imagine sitting in front of 12 books of about 100 pages each right before the exam wondering how to revise. Rather, noting the gist of the current affairs from a newspaper, coaching Institute's websites or a monthly magazine, makes it easier to revise.
#4: Your eyes get trained to focus on the essential
With regular practice, our brain will be able to skim through editorials and spot the necessary content.
For example, in yesterday's article by the Lok Sabha speaker, the only new point I found was that MPs will be provided with research support for more meaningful participation in the parliament.
#5: Greater chance of remembering content that you actively engage with
Can you tell me the main plot of the last movie you watched? I bet you can give me a detailed account.
This proves to us that we tend to remember those things with which we are deeply engaged. Reading is one level of engagement. Writing adds another layer. Explaining it to someone else would be even better.
How do you approach the daily current affairs preparation? Do you make notes or do you only read from a Magazine?
